being that today was thursday meant i was scheduled for a morning run. but the weather this morning was not only cold (lower 40's) but wet as well as a soft rain descended over greater boston. it was a good excuse to skip running, but even then, if it stopped raining in the afternoon and the temperature goes up by a few degrees, i could still squeeze in a run.

so i stayed home for much of the day. i only went out briefly in the afternoon to pick up some snacks on sale (popcorn) at star market. accordingly to the doppler radar the rain had passed by then, but the sky was even darker than this morning, and there was a pervasive misting/fog. i would not be running today it seems.

i thought it'd be a good day to do some retroactive blog updating, but instead spent it watching all 6 episodes of the japanese anime yakitori: soldiers of misfortune on netflix. i'm not a big anime fan - that particular art style doesn't appeal to me in the slightest - but this show employed CGI animation and the art was something i'd never seen before so that got me intrigued. the story itself was a little basic: a ragtag group of soldiers have to learn to work as a team before they're sent out on a mission to an alien planet to protect some dignitaries. the last episode was really weird (spoiler): they go to trial for war crimes for the things they did on the alien planet. it was actually kind of boring and i fell asleep through parts of it. overall i liked the series. i watched with english voice overs so i didn't have to endure the small company of japanese voice actors that seem to dub every single anime production.

for lunch i had a spicy jamaican beef patty, for dinner a meatball sub. after having meatballs for 3 consecutive nights, i'm basically meatballed out. fortunately my mother expressed some interest in trying it so i'll donate all the ingredients to her tomorrow. it was cold enough today that i put on my slippers to keep my feet warm and switched to hot drinks again.

the season 2 finale of loki aired tonight. i still haven't finished watching episode 4. i'm basically hate watching it at this point. season 1 was great, and i had high hopes for season 2, but the show has become this convoluted slow-paced mess, i get no joy viewing it. at this point i hope the show gets cancelled so i don't have to continue hate watching a 3rd season.1 some good news: season 4 of for all mankind premiered tonight. that's a show i do and will enjoy watching. a bunch of new shows are coming out within the coming weeks: murder at the end of the world (nov.14), reacher (season 2, dec.15) and fargo (season 5, nov.21) to name just two.

the weather seems warmer tomorrow: i'm planning on working in a friday run, the morning temperature looks to be in the upper 40's and dry, which is good enough for running. cold weather makes me run faster anyway!

1 i take it all back! i ended up watching all season 2 of loki. episode 4 finished with a shocking ending as victor timely disintegrates to his death as he steps inside the temporal loom chamber. starting with episode 5 it got really good and flet like a heist movie as loki reassembles the team scattered through time and space. the episode 6 finale was satisfying, and the series could end as-is or continue either way.
