with no roommate it meant i could sleep with the bedroom door open. i was watching the switzerland-spain world cup match from bed. spain was up 4-1, it was all but certain they'd win the match. the japan-norway game was the one i wanted to see, but it won't be on until 4am, too late for me, and i wasn't going to wake up early just to watch it. i did stir awake around 6am and casually checked the score, happy to see that japan was up 2-1.

i didn't wake up until 9:30am. had 30 minutes to get ready before heading to the cafe by 10am. i was surprised to find my parents already there, especially my mother, who said yesterday she wasn't coming. apparently they got up early to get some supplies from market basket. they were in the middle of filleting and marinating a bunch of chicken legs. my sister also showed up for work today, first time in 2 weeks, as well as my 2nd aunt, we arrived a bit after 11am. my father baked some shake & bake chicken thighs in the air fryer. we ended up cooking it twice because it wasn't done yet, but it ended up tasting pretty good, air frying prevents them from getting too soggy.

we were waiting for the influx of weekend taiwanese customers like what happened last saturday, but it never happened. last week, we had a series of big online orders in the morning, one of which was made before we even opened. my parents stayed until 1pm before going home, leaving us to hold down the fort for the rest of the day. that's when it got really busy, as we tripled the amount of business we made earlier. we used up all the chicken and i had to cook some more rice in the 2nd rice cooker. later i also decided to make a new batch of tea eggs, after we used 10 of the 30 eggs i made just yesterday. at this rate, we'll need to get more eggs this weekend since we're nearly out.

my sister was complaining about how feifei took 2 of the folding shopping carts when they moved out a few days ago. i actually looked up the price, they can be expensive, $50-60. my father said it wasn't worth trying to get it back, and just consider it a present, as she's helped out at the cafe a bunch of times for free. fortunately we still have two in the basement. my sister said they also took all the trash bags and the common apartment dishes. i ran to the shed to make sure they didn't take the yellow bicycle, which belongs to my mother.

i stayed until 4:30pm, to make sure the tea eggs boiled for at least an hour. i then headed off to belmont. i only went out into the backyard briefly to pick up some windblown pots on the lawn, i'll do a more thorough inspection tomorrow. i basically snacked for an hour before dinner started, my father made two chicken stirfries, one with broccoli, one with eggplants. the dishes would've been even tastier if he cooked it outside on the wok.

i returned home by 7pm. a quiet night, at 10pm i watched the netherlands-south africa game. the dutch ended up winning 2-0, they had possession of the ball 70% of the time. one of their best players - van de donk - got a yellow card, which means she won't be able to play the next game against spain. the US-sweden game is tomorrow morning at 5am. i don't think i'm waking up for that, but i just might check the score out of curiosity.
