usually i can figure out a roommate routine fairly quickly, but it's taken me 3 weeks to finally determine lauryn's routine. as a rule, she leaves for the office around 10am and comes back around 6pm. after she left this morning, i had an hour to use the bathroom and take a shower before heading down to the cafe to work.

my mother made more zongzi, to sell and to eat for ourselves, both savory (taiwanese style) and sweet (northern chinese style). my aunt came to pick up her catered order and left soon afterwards as we were really busy. my sister's godmother also stopped by.

i returned home by 5:30pm. i left my wet hiking shoes outside this morning, hoping they'd dry out in the sunlight, but there was enough humidity that the shoes stayed wet. i ended up running a fan for a few hours, blowing directly onto the shoes. i smelled my shoes: better than before, but still a slight stink, that maybe hopefully will go away once the shoes completely dry.

my rear rack bike baskets has a tendency to wobble. i thought it was because the lower rack strut attached to the only remaining good braze-on (eyelet) has loosened from the years of vibrations. to fix it, instead of attaching the lower strut to the braze-on, i used a 1/2" rubber cushioned p-clamp instead, like i did with the other side (a great improvement over twisted strands of wire, which was what i had before). i started by removing the 4mm hex head screw holding the struct to the braze-on. it would hardly budge at first, but i sprayed it with some WD-40 and slowly worked it loose. i then attached the p-clamp using a stainless steel 10-32 x 3/4" machine screw, 2 #10 stainless steel flat washers, and a #10-32 nylon lock nut. after that was attached, i had to adjust the existing p-clamp on the other side of the bike, as i installed it too low. the p-clamps work great, but i found out the rear baskets were still wobbling, because one of seatpost braze-ons had damaged threads, so my screw wouldn't hold in place. later i ordered a 1-1/8" monostay adapter so i can reattach the upper rack struts to the seatpost.

lauryn returned around 6pm. i joked with her that she didn't have another party to go to (like yesterday). i heard her making dinner in the kitchen, something very quick, maybe just a yogurt and a banana, before she disappeared into her bedroom, only to come out around 9pm to take a shower.

i didn't have dinner until almost 10pm, reheated two savory zongzi in the microwave steamer tray. i ate while devouring exciting news about the celtics possibly trading for kristaps porzingis from the washington wizards in a threeway deal that also involves sending malcolm brogdon to the clippers and danilo gallinari to the wizards. the deal wasn't finalized yet and had to be done tonight, in order for porzingis to opt into his player option. then later i read the deal fell apart. apparently the clippers had concerns about brogdon's injury status.
