first thing i did this morning was to contact my motorcycle insurance. for an additional $10/year, i have roadside assistance, with one of the services being a free tow to the nearest repair shop. it was all automated, and they sent me a text to file a claim, though it was for a car and not a motorcycle (which questions like: which wheels are flat? with a diagram of a car). so i called them again to speak with an agent. apparently when you're just getting roadside assistance, it doesn't count as a claim. my agent was ready to contact the tow company, but i told her to hold off until i contact greater boston motorsports, to make sure they're available to fix my flat wheel. so i called GBM, but nobody picked up. that's when i saw they're closed on sundays and mondays. i'll need to call them back again tomorrow morning.

i walked down to the nearby dollar store to try and find some jute twine for my garden trellis. after an exhaustive search, it seems like they didn't have it at this store. instead i left with some plastic 11-cup containers (for storing kimchi whenever i make some again) and a scrubbing brush.

once i returned home, i went out again to the community garden to do some more work. i brought along a cherry tomato seedling this time, as well as my bag of plant-tone organic fertilizer. i still couldn't plant any of the vining seedlings (bitter melons, squashes) because i still need to find some replacement trellises. ann was there again, we chatted for a bit before i left an hour later.

i headed out to belmont by 11:40am, after calling my mother asking if they were going to go on a supply run (she said they'd do it tomorrow morning). she made some wonton soup for lunch when i arrived.

my father mowed the lawn while i did some weeding. we were also trying to figure out where to plant my remaining seedlings (tomatoes, eggplants, peppers), and where to sow additional beans (long beans, blue beans) and squashes. we were about to make a big push to plant before my mother came out and told us we were still going on a supply run.

it was already well after 3pm by the time we left, the latest we've ever gone on a supply run. we went to the waltham costco first, before going to the waltham market basket. costco wasn't at all crowded, and neither was market basket, so parking was easy to find. the only disadvantage of going to these places in the late afternoon is hitting rush hour traffic on the ride home.

we were finally finished by 4:40pm. google map calculated the fastest route to the cafe was via route 95 then to route 2. it was close to bumper to bumper traffic on 95, but as soon as we exited onto route 2 heading inbounds towards boston, it was smooth sailing. we got to the cafe around 5pm to drop off the supplies (and the first time my parents had been back to the cafe since leaving on their vacation), before returning to belmont.

so the neighbor that tore off their roof last week? apparently it wasn't to build a new roof, but rather to add a second floor extension onto the existing ranch house. why we weren't notified of this construction is a bit of a mystery, though they did have a permit taped to the window.

it was too late for gardening, which meant another tuesday where i'm back in belmont doing all the yardwork i wasn't able to do over the weekend. i cleaned up all the backyard equipment, watered the plants, before going inside.

originally i was going to make some bagel sandwiches for dinner, but my mother didn't seem too interested. instead we had a weird dinner of rotisserie chicken and baguette slices. i left by 7:20pm.
