this morning was a repeat of yesterday: i woke up at 8am, got ready, left at 8:40am, went to the porter square star market to get some boneless chicken thighs, got to the cafe by 9am. we cooked 5 cups of rice, as we still had 6 containers of frozen rice in the freezer. we were out of bean sprouts so i rode the motorcycle down to whole foods to look for them. my sister was there last night and they didn't have any, and they still didn't have any this morning. i then decided to go down to the mt.auburn star market and see if they had it. they did, but only small organic packages where the sprouts looked soggy. i left with some more boneless chicken thighs, the attendant had to help me because my discount coupon didn't work. i finally made it back to the cafe by 9:30am, the cafe now opened.

my 2nd aunt called, said she'd be late because she was trying to create a new eversource account. my sister's godmother showed up by late morning, before my aunt finally showed up a bit later. i thought today would be busy because temperature was in the 70's, but instead of a spike, it was just a gradual stream of business, all the way to closing time.

i went to my sister's place in the early afternoon to let hailey outside so she could use the bathroom. via webcam, i noticed every time she switches from sleeping on the floor to sleeping on the couch, she'll bark as if searching for my sister, before falling back asleep again.

my sister was still making her catered meals, but scaled down to 3 different selections. by some miracle, she actually finished ahead of schedule, so today was strangely unstressful for a wednesday. my sister's godmother was like the sister whisperer, steering her to finish on time instead of waiting at the last minute.

my parents were not google tracking today. there location on the map was last updated 8-9 hours ago. a few possibilities came to mind. maybe my father lost his phone, or it was stolen. or he forgot to recharge the phone overnight and turned it off to preserve battery life. when i finally saw them show up at night (austrian time), i called my father to ask what was happening. he wasn't sure himself, but thinks he might've turned off data (because i'd told him unlimited google fi throttles speed after 50GB) last night.

i left the cafe by 6:40pm. instead of going home, i went to belmont, to do some more tub drain patching and backyard watering. i started with the tub. the epoxy i applied on monday has now turned completely solid and smooth. i masked the chrome with blue masking tape before making up a small batch of epoxy. i applied the epoxy with the popsicle stick, the bottom edge where there was some darkness, and the top edge that had a small indentation. i managed to fill the indentation, but i didn't seem to make much progress covering up the dark edge.

i was in the backyard watering for the next 40 minutes. i was afraid the cold snap last night would kill all my newly-planted seedlings, but most of them still alive. some leaves had cold damaged spots, but the plants will outgrow those over time. a few seedlings did die, but those were the ones that were already damaged, broken stems with little chance of survival. i finished by 8pm before finally returning to cambridge.

i made dinner soon after i got home, heating up some leftover curry rice noodles my sister made. i had a big tub of it, probably enough for two servings but i ate the whole thing. i warmed it up in my microwave, and it was my first time using the microwave lid. it actually worked pretty well, sitting on top of my bowl but not touching the food within. i added some hot sauce to the rice noodles for more flavor and wolfed it down while watching the heat-knicks game. new york ended up winning, 112-103.
