when i arrived at the cafe this morning, the handyman had already assembled the back deck. unfortunately today was a cold and overcast day, so nobody would be using the patio area. i also noticed that earlier this morning my father had turned on the lawn sprinkler. he ran it for 10 minutes before shutting it off.

at first it wasn't busy today, and it looked like it'd be another slow day. but things picked up in the afternoon, such that we made slightly more than last wednesday (not including that large grubhub order last week, which doesn't reflect on the square sales tracking). my mother made a stirfry of salted pork with tofu and hot peppers for lunch. there wasn't any drama with my sister today, though she did snap at us a few times, defensively thinking we were criticizing her when we were talking about something else.

my aunt came early (2pm) to get something to eat (beef noodle soup) before picking up her catered order around 3pm. there was a frenzy of activity as we all tried to fulfill the orders, and despite it, the meals were still late. later my 2nd aunt showed up.

around 5pm a catering customer asked my sister to deliver her meal. that meant driving to north cambridge, in the direction of alewife, during rush hour traffic. even though it was about a mile away, the last time my sister delivered it was a 40 minute roundtrip. i volunteered to drop it off via bicycle since i could easily dodge traffic, but i wasn't able to guarantee the integrity of the food wedges in my rear bike baskets. in the end my sister decided to drive it there anyway.

i made it back home by 6pm. there was a light misting, even though there was nothing on the doppler radar and nothing on the weather forecast. i brought home some leftover food as well as some leftover brie and bread. but the first thing i did when i got home was snack on some junk food while watching the news. i didn't eat dinner until afer 8pm, reheated the meal that i brought home.
