with the morning temperature in the lower 40's, i finally went out for a run today. it's actually my first run of february (my last run was back in january).

dressed in shorts, a t-shirt, a long-sleeved pullover, and gloves, i was ready to go after i finished stretching. i walked briskly down to the charles river, it was enough to keep me semi-warm. once i started running though, i really began to heat up. there were still ice floes on the charles river. i kept thinking to myself, "this is my last run of age 48." it was a strange feeling to be wearing shorts but then run by people bundled up in a winter jacket with hat and gloves. many of the runners i ran by were friendly, we greeted each other at least with a knowing nod.

coming back, i bumped into victor, and we chatted briefly. he invited me to his birthday party next friday, apparently he has a february birthday as well. party attendees must recite some poetry.

after a shower, i made myself some lunch with the last of the kielbasa sausage along with some scrambled eggs. i first heated the sausage in the toaster oven to warm them up before grilling them a bit on the frying pan.

i went to go pick up my thiazide prescription from the walgreens pharmacy. i stopped by star market on the way back to collect some more boneless chicken thighs and sumo oranges on sale. i bumped into my neighbor jeff, we chatted briefly about the real estate market, especially the boom in lab spaces.

my legs were sore from running this morning. that's bound to happen when you only run once every few weeks. luckily the long range forecast for the rest of february shows warmer than normal weather. i except more running opportunities in the near future. i downloaded the latest episode of poker face and watched it while snacking on some roasted hazelnuts. i also caught up on some NBA news, especially since the blockbuster trade of kevin durant to the phoenix suns late last night.

i reheated the leftover tikka masala and butter garlic rice for dinner. i caught a few more episodes of newsradio, starting with the pilot from the first season. the joe character was played by a different older actor; another actress played catherine duke and she didn't even have a speaking part; and dave and lisa weren't dating yet, though in the second episode it was already established they're having a secret office romance.
