i tested the areoponic storage bin water: pH 6.23, TDS 695ppm - about the same values as last time. i turned on the water pump to check the spray manifold. some of the micro sprayers have a classic fan shape, but a few of them don't, the water sort of sprays out in a messy sputter. i thought maybe it was the sprayers themselves, so i replaced a few, but that really seem to help. maybe it has something to do with the holes i drilled? i also emptied the manifold, in case small bits of PVC plastic were swimming around inside (the manifold was clean). at this point i'm going to leave it as is. i won't know what's working or not until i'm actually growing vegetables aeroponically, and we're still not there yet.
i rinsed my soaking LECA one more time, dumping out the sandy water outside (so it doesn't clog the pipes). now i'll leave them to dry, so they'll be ready to use once my seedlings all germinate. while i was outside, i noticed two of our rain barrels had toppled in the wind (sunroom and bedroom corner). i went and straightened them back up again. i might stack them with the storage barrels, because these red catch barrels are always tipping over throughout the winter since they're empty and light.
so one of my main reasons for coming to belmont was to take care of my motorcycle. technically i haven't put my motorcycle away yet for the season, even though i haven't riden it in about a month (when i washed it). maybe this weekend i put it away officially, would need my father's help to jack up the bike and push it into garage storage. anyway, before i can do that, i need to fill up the fuel tank and add stabilizer to the gasoline. today was the perfect day to do it, because it was relatively dry, and was before a small mini-snowstorm event happening on sunday, which would mean salt treated road services, and i don't like to ride under those conditions.
typically i add the stabilizer right after i fill up the tank, but gas station attendants get really leary whenever they see someone seemingly fiddling with their fuel tank. fortunately the tank was near filled (i'd only ridden it 30 miles), so i added an ounce of star-tron enzyme fuel treatment (to treat 3 gallons), before riding the motorcycle to the exxon gas station opposite the public library, the nearest self-serve station closest to my parents' house. i then returned to the house and drove the motorcycle back into the garage.
a bunch of temu items arrived a few days ago. i took the shower curtain rings, aluminum custard molds, right angle HDMI adapter, and the bike chain wear indicator tool. i also took the spaghetti measuring tool and went to the cafe to drop it off. i tested it to see if our usual 150g of noodles is a single serving or not; it's actually more than 1 serving but less than 2 servings. my father also made some candied roasted walnuts in the oven, i tried some, they tasted pretty good. these were cheap no-brand walnuts he bought from OSJL. my mother packed me a lunch before i left.
i got back home by 3pm and ate lunch. i went out an hour later to pick up a mega millions ticket from the liquor store. the store owner said to me, "don't forget me when you win!"
my amazon essentials men's fleece jogger pants arrived today, in charcoal size small. i tried them out, they're really comfortable. they fit well, a little long, but elastic ankle cuffs make it so i can sort of adjust the length. they have pockets too! and not tight in the butt like my pair of adidas track pants. best of all, because they're fleece, they're super warm. i immediately went online and ordered another pair (currently on sale, $10.90/pair).
for dinner i made a bowl of luxury korean ramen. i ended up watching a public television documentary about boston radio WBCN. i didn't realize its illustrious history. the radio station went out of business, and the WBCN callsign is currently used by an AM radio station in florida.
