so i stayed indoors all day today. for lunch i made an omelette comprising of two eggs, some frozen diced ham cooked in butter, habanero salsa, chopped red onion, and shredded parmesan cheese. it was pretty good, really salty for some reason. i wish i had some milk or half and half to fluff the eggs, but the carton of half and half in my fridge expired back in september (i poured it down the toilet).
the only important thing i did today was to call xfinity to try and lower my sister's internet bill. she currently pays $60/month for 200Mbps, which was a rate i managed to negotiate, but it only lasted for one year, and the new rate will be $87/month (the more expensive rate was what she was paying before for many years). i thought it'd expire tomorrow, but it's not until 2 more weeks. the agent i spoke with could only give me two deals: $70/month/1-year for 400Mbps, or $65/month/1-year for 75Mbps.
chances are i'm going to do a account swap, so i can sign up again to xfinity as a new customer. this involves getting a new xfinity gateway, setting it up, cancelling the old account, logging out that cablemodem, and switching that cablemodem over to the new account before returning the comcast equipment. anyway, new customers get a $40/month/2-year contract, so that's nearly 50% off.
the pain in the ass comes in march, when i need to do the same for my own home internet. for that one i might need to cancel my account first, sign up using my parents' credentials, before reswapping the modem. i don't mind living off of my phone data for a day or two.
anyway, before i make the switch, i'm going to call xfinity one more time tomorrow, see if i negotiate a new deal if i tell them i'm leaving. i don't think it'll be as good as a new customer deal though.
i had some blue cheese and crackers for a late afternoon snack. i must've had too much lactose as i had to take a serious bathroom break a short time later. for dinner i made a tuna fish sandwich. i used regular yellow mustard this time, i still think my recipe is missing something, it's too bland. next time i'm adding some habanero sauce for more kick.
i ate dinner while watching the celtics-nets game. brooklyn had won 13 of their last 14 games. due to a weird scheduling glitch, they hadn't played since sunday. they were also missing kevin durant, out due to a MCL sprain (one month). boston was missing a key player too, jaylen brown due to an adductor injury (out 1-2 weeks). nets outscored celtics in the first and third quarter, but boston was the better team, with more players contributing.
