working at the cafe today, i was glued to live coverage of the house speakership election streaming from MSNBC on my youtube tv app. republicans held 3 more votes, failing once more to make any headway in the ultraconservative impasse. it wasn't very busy, which gave my sister more time to do her catered meals since she didn't have to compete with us fulfilling cafe orders. so far this week we still haven't matched last week's profit. hard to say what reason, i think the college kids still on winter break might have something to do with it.
i got a chance to see the pair of new roasting pans we got for our breville smart air fryer oven. it's still a little small for the oven, but the pans are well-made and seem very industrial. i left the cafe by 5:30pm, taking home with me a container of curry rice noodles. returning home, i took out the trash anyway even though i promised myself i wouldn't, since it's all my upstairs neighbors trash and they never bring out the containers.
i was able to ride my bike today because rain wasn't expected to fall until later this evening. speaking of the rain, the rain last night was beating against the trash cans in renee's alley. they were so noisy, i got up around 3am to move the bins. for some reason they're all piled up next to my bedroom windows. i'll need to speak with renee about it at some point.
i have a little wooden adjustable shelf on top of my toilet tank that's missing a shelving pin or two, so one of the shelving isn't exactly stable. i've always meant to get some replacement pins, but when i looked them up online a while back, the pins were cheap but the shipping wasn't, which made it not worth it to get. but tonight i came across a website called widgetco which sells nothing but corks, pins, and stoppers. i found some compatible shelf pins (3mm) that sell for 20¢ each, and the best part is free shipping. i ordered a set of pins, along with some replacement oval wood plugs (1/2") for a kitchen barstool.
for dinner i reheated the rice noodles, mixed in some of my chili oil sauce. i continued watching house drama on MSNBC. tomorrow will be more of the same as the republicans still can't figure out a way to elect a speaker.
