my sister asked me to get some stuff from market basket this morning, and my mother confirmed the order. so after waking up this morning, i took the bike and went to get some supplies. it was a grey day, and it wasn't supposed to rain until the early afternoon, but i already felt a few drops. they had everything except bean sprouts, so my sister had to go get them from whole foods (in hindsight, i could've gotten them from the nearby somerville whole foods).

after returning, i walked down to the cafe, since it'd be raining later and i wouldn't be able to ride back. i got there by 10:40am. my sister told me yesterday they got a big grubhub order comprising of at least 16 bento boxes with a delivery pick of 12:30pm. my mother said my father was so worried about being able to fulfill the order that he wasn't able to sleep last night. one of the biggest online orders we've ever received just also happened to coincide on the same day my sister was doing her catered meals, so it was a stressful time.

because we knew about the order ahead of time, we'd planned accordingly, and when the time came to assemble everything, it went pretty smoothly since we had all the ingredients ready. after a big order like that, any business we got the rest of the day was just a bonus, as we'd already fulfilled our daily average.

my aunt had ordered something from the catered menu. we were wondering if she'd show up after testing positive for covid, but matthew (so far testing covid negative) showed up in her place, with a mask. he quickly paid upfront and left, no time to chitchat.

i finally left the cafe around 5:45pm. not only was it rainy, but windy as well. at least it was warm though, with temperature nearly in the 60's. i got home a little damp but it wasn't too terrible.

i finally got a chance to watch the top gun sequel. alex had seen it months ago and said it was good, which surprised me, because he hates everything. so i was curious, and fired up the movie. it also gave me a chance to further test out the tribit maxsound plus bluetooth speaker, as i used it to drown out the television sounds coming from my upstairs neighbors. it worked pretty well, i may decide to keep the tribit after all, once i compare it with the soundcore speaker which is due to arrive tomorrow. anyway, about the sequel, there was a lot to love about it. for one thing, they found tom cruise (60) an age-appropriate love interest in jennifer connelly (51). tom cruise absolutely does not look like a man in his 60's. he looks every bit the international movie star that he is, and this movie just reaffirms that. there's some cheesy stuff, like replaying kenny loggin's "danger zone" or topless beach volleyball (in this case some weird offense defense football). the casting for the top gun pilots are also very politically correct, and the final team chosen for the mission (spoiler alert) is made of a female pilot, a black pilot, a hispanic pilot, a nerd pilot, and the son of goose. i'm a big fan of monica barbaro (one reason for rewatching the good cop) so another point for this sequel.

for dinner i heated up a container of leftover congee while watching the heat-celtics basketball game. prince william and princess kate had arrived in boston earlier, and i watched their brief speech from city hall streamed live over youtube. i thought to myself, "hey, i wonder if they'll go to the basketball game?" and sure enough, they were sitting courtside, next to the team owner as well as governor-elect maura healey and boston mayor michelle wu. it was a great game because the celtics won and tatum scored 49-points, but hard to watch because every time boston pulled away, miami somehow managed to catch up and be within striking distance to steal away a victory.
