i was ferried to belmont in the late morning when my father called saying he could give me a ride because it was too cold outside. the cold i don't mind; it's the poor road conditions dotted with lumps of hardened melted snow that's the problem. i had a piece of matcha glutinous rice cake, some leftover sichaun paocai, and a bowl of chicken rice for lunch. in the late afternoon my mother made some scallion bread with the electric baking pan.

the senate impeachment trial finally ended today. even though 7 republicans sided with the democrats, it still wasn't enough for a guilty conviction, and like everyone already knew, trump was acquitted for the second time with a final vote of 57 guilt, 43 not guilty. it's all political theater anyway, we'll have to wait until the 2022 mid-term elections to see how the american voters will vote. i just hope this doesn't encourage trump to come out from whatever rock he's been hiding since leaving once and try to get back onto social media. i rather enjoy not having to hear about his daily offensive tweets.

my sister came by in the evening with her dog, bringing some korean takeout she got from bab korean bistro. like last time, once again we made a mistake with our order. when i gave my sister the list of things we wanted, i didn't include her portion, figuring she'd naturally pick something for herself, so when my mother looked at the receipt it didn't look right because my sister didn't order anything for herself. fortunately there was still plenty of food, enough for leftovers. i was so stuffed, my stomach was engorged, i could barely bent over to put on my socks, and i felt like i'd burst. my sister ended up giving me a ride back to cambridge.

after a shower i was lounging on the couch and fell asleep briefly. i found some old episodes of HBO dream on that i started watching. i'm going to make an early night of it, going to bed soon so i can maximize my sleep.
