my father dropped off the QYT KT8900 mobile radio today so we could test it. the advantage of a mobile radio over a handheld radio is mobile radios can transmit at higher power since they're designed to run off a car battery. the QYT supposedly can transmit at 25W VHF and 20W UHF (compared that to the baofeng held which can only transmit 5W). from my house i was able to hit the cafe on both 2m and 70cm, 80% clarity. this means the DBJ-2 antenna works, with a little more power i can transmit without any problems.
