* solar edge troubleshooting

when i logged into the cafe router to check the status, i saw something i wasn't prepared for: our neighbor's macbook and ipad were logged into the guest network after hours despite the access restriction rules which was supposed specifically set to prevent this. what happened? i did some research and found out that on some routers, sometimes the access restrictions don't work for the guest network because it's a virtual interface and doesn't adhere to the same rules as the main physical interface. my father was seeing me going through the hassle of trying to find a solution and said it wasn't worth it, it was fine just to leave the guest network opened all the time. at the very least we still have a new private network, which prevents anyone on the public wifi to hack into our private devices like printer and webcams (which has never happened but just in case). one potential solution for disabling the guest network is to run two DD-WRT wifi routers; that way there's no virtual wifi interface and all the access restriction rules can apply. i'll looking into that a little bit.
