i squeezed some more fresh orange juice this morning, measured the amount of juice i got between the large and small navel oranges. the small ones gave me 2-3 ounces, while the large one gave me 5 ounces. next weekend at haymarket i should just focus on large oranges since they're a better bargain in terms of juice production. after squeezing 5 smalls and 1 large, i ended up with about 18 oz. of fresh orange juice.

it rained overnight but had stopped by the time i woke up. it was still cloudy and i wasn't expecting a large solar production today, especially since when i checked the monitor app this morning it was just generating a few hundred W. but the diffused sunshine in the late morning and afternoon was enough to eventually give us 6.8kWh, more than i thought.

i had some instant clam linguine for lunch. there was nothing good on television; besides, my mother was watching a endless supply of korean movies courtesy of amazon prime. in the afternoon we watched the NFL pro bowl, which is a sad game between all the star players who didn't get into the super bowl next weekend. the despair reflected in the numerous empty seats plus it was raining for much of the game. the AFC won, players on the winning team receive $64k while the losing team players get $32k.

li called me tonight. i thanked him for the wedding candy he brought back from shanghai more than a week ago, but he didn't call about that, but rather he asked if i knew where my sister was because the wifi was down and the router that needed to be reset was locked away in her room. i told him my sister would be back sometime after 8pm. i felt bad, and thought about riding to their place to reset the router, but decided against it, there should be limits to my generosity. besides, their tp-link router needs to be replaced anyway, it's been dropping connections more frequently lately. for the number of people sharing that wifi network, we should really upgrade to a better router. my mother even called me up asking to order a new one, even though i was already online doing router research. after hours of comparison, it was a choice between the linksys AC1900 (EA7500 $130) and the asus AC1900 (RT-AC68U $136). i finally decided on the asus because of the better user interface and the ability to install custom firmwares despite the router model being more than 3 years old. i was going to buy it from amazon.com but i chose B&H photo/video to avoid the taxes and for quicker shipping (arriving tuesday instead of amazon's wednesday).
