i went to bed late last night at 3am and didn't wake up until 10am. li was still home, but just finished eating a hard-boiled egg in the kitchen when i came out. i was afraid he wasn't going to go to work because his boss wasn't here today. despite the fact that there was a meeting, he was on the phone with a coworker delegating responsibility. however, he finally did leave sometime before 11am.

it was a very grey and cold day, but i wasn't expecting it to rain until i saw the noontime weather forecast, with overstaying-welcome tropical storm jose just parked a 100 miles offshore new england, churning some rain clouds towards the mainland. i went outside to cover my motorcycle, the rain just starting as soon as i left the house. a shield bug was on the rain cover and i grabbed it with my hand so i could bring it inside to study. i'd never seen this type before, and after some research, found out it was a Banasa dimidiata. i snapped a bunch of photos using my canon flash as a hand-held tethered unit with a lightsphere diffuser. tethering allows me get E-TTL, something i don't get when i go wireless.

i ate the other remaining marinated hard-boiled egg for lunch, then later snacked on the demi baguette and peppered salami i got yesterday, making finger sandwiches.

the day otherwise was uneventful. for dinner i had another bowl of mexican chicken soup. li didn't come home until 11pm, but i wasn't as worried as yesterday, since i knew he might be out with friends. turns out they left work around 3pm to go to a KTV bar in chinatown, afterwards having dinner at the penang malaysian restaurant.
