i went to haymarket in the afternoon to buy some more oranges. the arab girl whom i bought the gold nuggets from no longer had any oranges to sell. instead i bought gold nuggets from a different vendor (4/$1). i wasn't sure if they were sweet, but i took a chance and bought a dozen for just $3. i also bought some large clementines from the same middle eastern man i bought from for the past 2 occasions. i bought 2 bags for $5. finally, from yet another seller i bought 2 more bags of small clementines for $3. i also got 2 lbs. of pickling cucumbers for $1 and some cilantro and scallions.

it took a while to fit everything into my two rear bike baskets: heavier produce and those not at risk of bruising on the bottom, delicate vegetables on the top, and a few in my carry bag. i then came back to cambridge via the longfellow bridge. i stopped at my house briefly to unload some oranges before taking the rest to the cafe.

i was at the cafe long enough for my father to bring my grandmother and aunt. we gave the oranges a taste test. the gold nuggets - though purchased from a different vendor - was the sweetest of them all. the other two clementines were sweet as well, but nothing like the gold nuggets. i asked my aunt about her new internet. she said the chinese shows she watches on her ipad were still occasionally intermittent, but she now realizes it has more to do with the server and nothing to do with her internet.

i left with some leftovers for dinner and a box of palmier cookies.
