my mother asked me to go to the OSJL in medford to help look for a specific red yarn she bought there a while back. when i arrived at the store there was no yarn in sight, replaced with summer merchandise like barbecue and pool equipment. just as i was about to leave, i asked one of the employees if they had any yarn. she said yes, but when she asked a supervisor, she was told they'd already put the yarns away in storage. nevertheless, she said she'd go look for me, and i told her what i color i wanted. minutes later she came back out with two skeins of exactly what i wanted. she wasn't sure of the color, but those were the only reds there. i also left with some seed packets that were on sale (cupcake cosmos, moonflowers, nasturtiums, korean melons).

out of curiosity, i visited the aldi supermarket nearby. it was a strange market, i recognized a few brands, but most were unknown to me. they also had fresh produce, which most of the customers there were picking for bargains. i left with a package of cilantro (89¢) and a bag of baby carrots (69¢). i could've bought more but i only had my little camera bag and there wasn't anymore space left.

i went to the cafe to drop off the yarn. my grandmother and aunt were there. later for dinner i had some more leftover mexican chicken soup with semi-hard hominy.

karen left for montreal early this morning, a 7am greyhound bus. she will get off at burlington vermont where her canadian friend will then pick her up.
