when i got to belmont, hailey was sleeping soundly on the couch. i let her outside, she seemed fine, even chased a squirrel up a tree and wouldn't leave. i called her back inside after about 15 minutes. later she woke up from sleep and insisted on going back out. this time i saw her eating grass.
my mother was at the cafe today helping my father prepare a large sushi order. they closed the shop early and came home in the afternoon. they still haven't gotten over their jetlag, going to sleep early, then waking up early, and feeling tired the rest of the day. my father seems to be battling a cold with a persistant cough, taking some medicine.
after dinner i returned home. after putting my bike away in the basement, i couldn't get back into the house.
i now realize that when the key is in the lock from the inside, i can't turned it on the outside. it doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, there's no way around it except somebody opening the door from the inside, which was what ended up happening, as karen heard me fumbling with the lock.
