i'd forgotten all about pokemon go until i arrived at the cafe. out of curiosity, i decided to check if anything was around. to my surprise there were 2 pokemons hanging out. excitedly i captured them, showing my parents, whom didn't quite understand what was going on. i caught a rattata followed by a weedle.

i rode to belmont with my mother, despite her wrist pain. actually, later in the afternoon (4pm) she had a doctor's appointment to take an x-ray to make sure nothing was broken from her fall. when she came back in the early evening, she said the doctor told her she just has a wrist sprain, and told her to take some over-the-counter medication to treat the pain.

after dinner my father and i tested the motorcycle battery he's been recharging since yesterday with the trickle charger. we hooked up the utility pump to the battery and fed water from a rain barrel that we filled up a quarter and the other end of the pump to a 25ft hose. i was surprised to see it work, but the water did come out in an oscillating gurgle instead of a steady stream. and after a few minutes, the battery started dying until it finally went dead. looks like the battery's bad (which was to be expected). our next step is to find a better battery, and trickle charge it with the solar panel.

i was looking forward to the ride home, since i'd be passing several pokestops. the entrance to the belmont cemetery is a pokestop. i pulled it up on the map, but didn't know what to do next. likewise, i stopped at a pokestop across glacken field, but once again didn't know what i was supposed to do. on the map i could see other activities, including the entrance to the fresh pond golf course, which was sparkling with activity. it wasn't until i arrived at the cambridge trust company (the clock tower) did i finally understand how to work a pokestop. apparently you're supposed to spin the landmark token in order to gain prizes. excitingly, i looked on the map until my next pokestop destination, which wasn't until concord and manassas. besides a pokestop, i also caught 4 pokemons: a weedle, a metapod, another weedle, and another rattata. on top of the observatory was another pokestop, followed by another at linnaean and mass. after storing my bike in the backyard, a pokemon suddenly popped up in the alleyway, a weepinbell with 72 combat point, my highest level pokemon thus far. later, while i was in the house, a zubat showed up while i was in the bathroom.
