i woke up feeling only slightly better than last night. i still couldn't easily raise my arms nor look down without hurting my neck. the pain is located right in the middle of my shoulder blades. i painfully rolled out of bed, fumbling through my pill box for another ibuprofen tablet. i'm still not quite sure how it all happened. maybe from just lounging on the couch so much, it did something terrible to my back. or i slept on it wrong, but wouldn't it mean i would've hurt right away instead of a delayed reaction? perhaps it came from bike riding, or more precisely, carrying too much in my backpack.

i spent the rest of the day moving around with serious upper body stiffness, like i'm robocop, unable to turn my head without also turning my body. i stayed away from the couch, moving to the sofa chair instead.

it was a good day to stay indoors as it rained throughout the day. i made myself some apple chicken sausage oatmeal for lunch along with a smoothie (almond milk, banana, frozen fruit, beet, ginger).

i spent 3 hours in the afternoon finishing a hollow book. not even sure when i started it, must've been back in the fall. i only carved out a few pages, then got sidetracked with other projects. originally i was only going to carve out half, but ended up carving out the whole thing, energized by internet radio streamed to my wireless speakers (rhinestone cowboys, followed by bo diddley, ending with new wave pop). hollow books aren't that hard to make, but it's a tedious process and you have to be detail oriented. and anytime you're working for blades for long periods of time, you have to be careful, don't accidentally slip and cut yourself.

for dinner i heated up some french bread pizza, no mood to do any cooking, and to wet outside to venture out and get additional groceries.
