alfonso got in touch with me around noontime asking to see if his friend mauricio could stop by the house and leave his stuff there. he'd told me mauricio was coming today in the late afternoon, but apparently he arrived early to boston. as alfonso was still working, it was better if mauricio could rest at the house until alfonso got out from work.

about an hour later, i spotted mauricio right away, pulling a suitcase, looking lost, walking down my street. "mauricio!" i called out from my doorstep, "welcome!" we ended up chatting in the living room for a few hours. his english isn't as fluent as his friend alfonso, but loves to talk regardless. eventually he got a message from alfonso to come meet him at MGH.

they came back later in the evening after alfonso took his friend on a night tour of boston. they walked everywhere, from MGH to beacon hill to backbay to copley square along chinatown then faneuil hall to the north end where they had dinner (italian black pasta). mauricio seemed very impressed with boston, "the magic city, the city of lights," he kept on saying.

perhaps a bit jetlagged combined with a long walking tour of the city, mauricio quickly fell asleep on the couch while we were all still in the living room. alfonso and i went to our bedrooms so his friend came sleep.
