* cleaning the basement, moved the 2 shelves to allow access to the walls, will do more cleaning the rest of the week until the insulation installation on friday.

* thinned out my snapdragons, zinnias, and cucamelons. was going to reuse some pots i was using to unsuccessfully germinate columbines but discovered that some of the tiny seeds had actually germinated, so left them alone.

* bicycled to belmont, planted some leftover snapdragon and cucamelon seedlings. after raking the front lawn, sprinkled some scotts fertilizer and weed control with a spreader. needs to be watered but i was hoping it'd rain (never did). sister brought home hailey in the late afternoon, i dogsat until 9:30. for dinner i had some leftover noodles.

* ever since sunmeng killed her coolpad F1 by dropping it in the toilet then washing it, she's been searching for a new phone. she wanted an iphone 6 plus purely for the status, despite the fact that it almost costs her entire month's salary. i recommended the 100+ V6, a phone seemingly made in partnership with chinese search engine giant baidu. but sunmeng doesn't like people telling her what to buy and would rather pick a phone herself so she found the nubia Z9 mini. the specs: 16/8megapixels camera, 5" 19z0x1080px screen, snapdragon 615 CPU (64-bit), 2/16GB (expandable via microSHDC card), 4G, nubia UI 2.8 (android L), 2900mAh. it costs RMBÂ¥1499, which is double the price of the 100+ V6. i still think the V6 is the better deal, but sunmeng was sold on the very slightly better camera on the Z9. she bought it already, but it's currently on backorder because apparently it's pretty popular and all units were sold out in under less than a minute when it was first released last month. i actually wanted to buy a nubia Z7 mini (previous model) before i left china, but after struggling to decide i opted not to get it.
