2015

10:30 i went with my father to chinatown for some chinese grocery items. when we came out it was already snowing. it was too cold for anything substantial, but the powdery snow dusted the landscape. i got back home at 12:00, ate some leftover pizza for lunch, then biked to market basket for more grocery items. i went out one last time to the dollar store to grab a sheet of poster board. i was relieved to be finally back at home and not have to go outside in the cold. the temperature isn't too bad if you prepare for it; the worst is if you go outside not realizing exactly how cold it is.

lounging on the couch in the early evening, i fell asleep a bit, waking up at 7:30 to make rice porridge for dinner, to complement the assortment of pickled chinese food i bought in chinatown earlier today. the gluten and pickled cucumbers were good, but the pickled garlic tasted off and was on the soft side. i also had some sichuan paocai, which had been aging for 35 days, just the right amount of sour fermentation enhanced with the spicy numbing pickling juice. but the thing with rice porridge is it's not very filling, and by late evening i was hungry again. i'm just going to sleep it off and eat big tomorrow morning.
