i'm on vacation! which means i don't feel like doing any writing tonight. besides, i can hardly stay awake. i look forward to a good night sleep here in my chongqing hotel room!

originally i was planning on leaving the house at 8:30, but didn't leave until 9:00. i got up at 7:30 to finally pack my things and clean up the house. in my bag: 3 pairs of sock, 3 pairs of underwear, 1 t-shirt, 1 pair of pants, bag of toiletries, assortment of recharging plugs and stations, 3 packs of tea. because my large bag doesn't have a zipper, it's easy for somebody to just slip their hands inside and pilfer something, as i was warned against pickpockets, who come out in force during the crowded new year. so i came up with a strategy: i'd put everything into one of my large ziploc bags, so they'd have to pull the whole thing out if they wanted to take something, which is impossible.

since i had nothing to eat in the house (except eggs), i stopped by the bakery to get a wedge sandwich (RMB$6), because i'd have plenty of time at the train station to eat.
