after about 3 hours of sleep, i woke up when my mother called asking if i wanted to join them for a supply run around 10:30. my grandmother came as well, with her collapsible wheelchair in the trunk of the car. the weather was a triple threat of miserable: wet, cold, and windy.

we first went to the medford ocean state job lot (20 qt. stainless steel stock pot for $14), followed by the everett costco (my grandmother wanted hot dogs), then finally the restaurant depot (20 qt. s/s stock pot for $55).

my father and i bottled the 2nd gallon batch of kombucha (2 week ferment) and started a new brew. it still tasted pretty good, maybe a little more tart but still sweet. we also tried the flavored kombucha. the dried apricot kombucha smelled really weird, like rotten fruit. it tasted like juice though, very sweet with a little tartness, but i just couldn't get over the smell. the candied ginger kombucha tasted better, a strong smell of ginger, like a natural ginger ale but with less sugar.

after dinner i got a ride back to cambridge.
