i went to the local crafts store this morning to get a pair of clover takumi bamboo #8 16" circular knitting needles for my mother. she used to have 2 pairs but can' seem to find them anymore. afterwards i went to belmont. i was in an anxious mood, thinking about the amount of coding work i have to do next week, not to mention a dentist appointment. it definitely won't be a fun week.

i watched some football: the colts-ravens and seahawks-redskins. baltimore is such a feel good story, i'm sort of rooting for them to win if the patriots don't make it all the way. ray lewis seems like a scary man but that's part of his appeal i suppose. i'm more worried about the broncos, and maybe the ravens can help out the patriots next week by eliminating denver from the playoff picture.

when my father came home from work, we finally finished the last part of the flashlight fix, which was to solder the wires back together. when everything was assembled, at first it didn't work. i ended up coiling a bit of bare copper wires at the bottom of the LED bulb contact which seemed to do the trick. the inside might not look pretty (big globs of solder, ugly taping job, excess wire), but the flashlight works and that's all that matters. the LED is super bright, to the point of blinding.

with all the networks still on their holiday hiatus, there wasn't a lot of new programming on television. i was surprised though that ABC had new episodes of both happy endings and the b in apartment 23. later in the evening, i was forwarded a frantic e-mail from my upstairs neighbor steve asking the roofer when they'd be here to fix the roof since there were leaks in his living room (what steve doesn't understand - and i've tried to explain to him on many occasions - is roof replacement can't happen during the winter when the temperature is too cold).
