sometimes it takes a few trips to gather all my groceries. that's because i can only carry so much on the bike, but also because i often forget a thing or two. today i stopped by the newish indian grocery store next door, in the building that used to be a boxing gym, and before that a paper factory. i was in search of rose water for the turkish delights i plan on making in the near future. i looked all over the store before i found them in little glass jars. at $1.49 they were cheaper than i expected, and the cashier lady told me it was in fact rose essence, a much more concentrated form of rose water.

this time around i didn't exceed the item limit, just a bag of oranges, a gallon of milk, some chocolate powder, and a quart of vanilla ice cream. the woman behind me in line however was well over the limit, and the cashier politely reminded her of that. she was apologetic but didn't step out of line.

i had a leisurely ride back, admiring the bag of used scratch tickets littering the ground, or the plains indian mural at 27 village street. the temperature was still a little cold (30's) but at least the streets were cleared now that most of the snow had melted. now all we need is a proper street cleaning.

for dinner i had some leftover rice and beans. there's still enough for another serving, which is good because i don't think i can eat anymore (getting a bit dry).
