i can't believe the patriots lost. i'm shocked speechless. i think it doesn't bother me as much that we lost to the colts, but just that we lost at all. in my mind, new england wins all its games, and any losses are incomprehensible anomalies that explode my brain and turn me into a temporary vegetable. should belichick have elected to kick the ball in the final minutes instead of trying to gain 2 more yards? even if they kicked it, the colts still could've scored a touchdown in less than 2 minutes. had the patriots gained the next down, they could've eaten up most of the clock, and really put the squeeze on the colts. that was the pivotal possession of the game and the colts made a great defensive play. even then, a win for indianapolis wasn't guaranteed, they still had to score. belichick gambled and he lost. hopefully the team takes out its anger on the jets next sunday. for new england, the regular season is just practice for the post-season. maybe the patriots can exact revenge come playoff time.

temperature this sunday hit 60's today, with a pervasive warm fog. it took me 18 minutes to bicycle the 2.84 miles to belmont (with 2 minutes of stop time at a few traffic lights and intersections). my mother was the first to come home since it wasn't too busy at the cafe. we went to the arsenal mall to buy some socks from old navy. i had a 30% discount friends and family coupon which i took advantage of to buy a pair of black pants and a fleece-lined vest. when we came back to the house my sister was home with the dog. from the garage i dug out an old bicycle that'd been there for more than a decade. it was originally my mother's but she's never used it. i hoping to clean it up so she can take it to get to work. my father took the evening off from chinese food delivery to have some dinner.

my new astrophysicist roommate was supposed to arrive today, but nobody's heard from him so we're assuming he's not coming, at least not today. if i wasn't so strapped for cash i wouldn't have any roommates. i have at least one more night of domestic autonomy! just by coincidence i instant messaged my former roommate sophia, who's currently working in shanghai, and she gave me some info on my missing houseguest. he's actually her boss, and was scheduled to arrive this week but due to some visa issues, he's delayed until next week.
