it took me a few seconds to register what i was looking at when i peered out the living room window this morning. a large branch of a mulberry tree had snapped and was now blocking the road. i thought about calling the police but i was pretty sure others had already reported it. a large tree branch blocking the road is pretty hard to miss. besides, it was on the somerville side of the town line and not sure if cambridge would do anything about it.
2 hours later a road crew arrived to take away the branch. when a tree that's on private property falls onto public property, who's responsible? luckily it wasn't my problem. the tree branch had also snagged a few overhead cables, but none of them broke, just a bit more slack than usual. it didn't take long for them to chop everything up into little pieces and haul them away. when it was over, the only clue that something had happened with a large gash wound on the tree.
originally i was going to go running this morning. instead i did 30 minutes of wii fit. i haven't used it in a while, but the wii fit doesn't judge: all it said was it noticed i missed my body mass index goal which expired 2 months ago. i like the iceberg balancing game and i love the hula. i loved it so much, i might've pulled a groin muscle while performing a lengthy series of quick gyrations. you know you're out of shape when you get injured playing a video game. after 30 minutes i was sweating profusely and jumped into the shower.
i had a project meeting with client N in brighton this afternoon. i haven't seen them since march although i've communicated with them a few times. suddenly i went from zero work to something due in a few weeks. fortunately the coding is pretty straight-forward and it'd be nice to add to the bank account instead of subtracting. the sky threatened rain and i thought i'd be in store for a wet ride home but the precipitation held off. i covered the bike when i got home though, in preparation for the eventual evening storms.
