went back to belmont today to continue working on the garden. by mid-afternoon we were able to plant all the seedlings. some were mine that i grew from seeds, while others were given to my father from somebody he knows. we even put up a rubber fence to keep hailey from wandering into the garden area and stepping on the plants. there's still one area of the garden that needs to be dug out, but that can wait until the weekend. i made a quick trip to the belmont true value garden shop to buy some more tomato cages (3 medium, 2 small) and to put my name on the phone list to get notified when their next shipment of salt marsh grass comes in.

returning home, i went to my own community garden plot to water my plants. everything was fine except my one remaining healthy basil plant, cut down in half, possibly the work of a cutworm, or maybe a careless cat walking through the garden. at this point it's too late to start any from seeds, so i'm going to have to just buy some replacement plants from the garden shop.

my mother came over in the late afternoon, waiting for my aunt to finish up at the laundromat. my sister dropped by too with hailey no less; she's been trying to bring the dog over for months. hailey spent her time wandering around the house sniffing everything before my sister drove back to belmont.

in the evening i made some chicken soup from my leftover rotisserie chicken. i didn't have any normal rice noodles but did have some vietnamese pho noodles which were just as good for making asian chicken noodle soup.
