it felt nice sleeping in my own bed and not worrying about when to wake up in the morning. i responded to some clients' e-mails but that was the extent of today's workload. i needed to buy stamps and to pick up my HBP prescription. bruce called me before i could leave, asked if i wanted to go with him to the wine and cheese cask and star market. the weather was surprisingly warm for this time of the year with temperature in the 60's (we're scheduled for a snowstorm this weekend however, so much for spring). i got some boutique sodas from the cask, fizzy lizzy mount fuji apple drink and AJ stephans pure can sugar boston root beer. when we got back bruce gave me some stamps, saving me a trip to the post office. i still however had to go down to porter square to pick up my drugs. on the way back, i returned to subways and got myself another $5 foot long (chicken teriyaki on wheat bread with hot peppers and lettuce and onions). i ate half for lunch, saving the rest for later.

i installed safari v4 beta on macbook pro today. i've heard reports it was unstable but it hasn't crashed on me yet. i'm not used to the tabs appearing on the top of the window instead of below the bookmark bar. the "show top sites" feature is interesting, but i can't decide whether it's actually useful or just eye candy. i get the feeling it's doing a lot of behind-the-scene processing, continuously pinging websites to update the thumbnails. likewise with the new coverflow view for bookmarks. really necessary or is it going to clog up the cache folder with tons of thumbnails?

also today i took part in the american community survey, a prelude to the 10 year census happening next year. i guess the government samples a random cross-section of the community to find out some preliminary data, and i'd been selected to participate. it was basically a lengthy questionnaire asking things like how many people in my household, whether i rent or own, number of rooms, my occupation, my ethnicity, and my salary.

maybe i'm not fully recharged from my trip, because i fell asleep on the couch again, waking up when it got dark. i had a bath in the early evening before finishing the rest of my leftover sandwich for dinner.
