around 1:30 i noticed flakes falling from the sky. from that point on it snowed nonstop. i didn't set foot outside all day long because my upstairs neighbor was home and kept going out and shoveling the sidewalk every few hours. from what i can tell, it's the kind of light and fluffy snow. i'd say by the time the worst of it was over, cambridge got about 6" of snow. it's actually sort of disappointing but another storm is arriving sunday and there's indication of yet another one on christmas eve.

i made a dozen holiday flan today. same recipe, except this time i used just a half cup of sugar instead of a full cup. hopefully it won't taste as blindingly sweet as the ones i normally make. no cinnamon this time either, felt like it made the flan more like pumpkin pie (although you couldn't really taste it). i also didn't drink the leftover "egg nog" for fear of contracting salmonella. besides, i already have a carton of fresh store-bought egg nog waiting for me at my parents place this weekend.

another lowkey day. no contact from clients but i think they were too busy worrying about the snow to bother with me. i spent the rest of the day backing up files onto dvd's and took some time to catch up on my backlog of downloaded movies and television shows. had a few slices of pound cake, some roasted almonds, an onion bagel, and some more cracked walnuts. for dinner, some hot dogs with a topping of ketchup, grey poupon mustard, relish, and sauerkraut.

when my roommate came home in the evening, he told me was going to new york tomorrow morning. a fellow bibliophile like myself, i gave him directions to the strand bookstore in union square and him it was a must-visit. he was actually going to new jersey, but a friend of his was leaving brooklyn to go pick him up in manhattan. he would've left tonight except the snowstorm would've snarled a NYC bus trip to a 6 hour ordeal.
