can't believe it's september already. just 4 more months left in the year. 2 more months until we pick a new president. that is, if the republican national convention will ever happen and john mccain has a chance to accept the party's nomination. this morning all the news channels were broadcasting live coverage of hurricane gustav, completely overshadowing the RNC. the first day of the convention was shortened due to the lack of guest speakers (no bush, no cheney, no schwarzenegger) and to not seem uncaring when most the nation was focused on the plight of louisiana. local channel 7 first broke the news of palin's daughter's pregnancy, and i couldn't find any info about it online until a few hours later, when everyone was talking about it. of course i'd already heard the rumor that palin's newborn son is actually her grandson. even if the baby is actually hers, the circumstances of how he came about is still awfully suspicious. the fact that she knew he had downs syndrome, her 8 hour flight from texas back to alaska to give birth despite her broken water, and how she looked so skinny late into her pregnancy. for some reason i keep on thinking she's going to resign the vice presidency nomination (whether voluntarily or not) once more skeletons from her past are discovered.

as befitting a labor day, i spent 3 hours this afternoon treating my backyard deck with that oil-based weatherproofing sealant. i focused on the railings, and then did the wooden bench and two floorboards. even though i was outside, the fumes still made me a little woozy and i almost slipped a few times walking around the dry wooden boards barefoot. i finished that whole can of timber oil, will need to get some more tomorrow. later, after a shower and some resident evil time, i spent the rest of the day working on client B's project into the wee hours of the night.
