last night i made a to-do list. i only managed to get through half of it today. i went to home depot to return the gallon of unused wood stripper. i then went to linen-n-things as well as target, looking to buy some home cleaning supplies. i borrowed the car and went to city paints to get a container of cabot wood cleaner. at pemberton farm i bought a six-pak of garden salsa peppers. returning home i went to the garden to plant some more vegetables. i brought along my tangle of nasturtiums (it's official: i'm shutting down the grow closet for the season) but when the sky darkened and i heard thundering, that was my cue to go home. it started to pour so heavily that even with an umbrella i still managed to get wet.

i finally had lunch around 4pm, debating whether i should go outside and get some photos of people getting caught in the rain. by the time i finished eating though, the thunderstorm had pretty much stopped. in its aftermath, sections of the street were flooded. i saw the corner diner owner unclogging the drain and likewise bruce did the same on either side of the street (despite not even being a permanent cambridge resident, mr.unsung hero). i started losing hearing in my left ear again (sinus congestion) so i took a handful of allergy pills plus a few shots of nasal spray. with my sinuses completely cleared, i fell asleep on the couch watching a rebroadcast of the andromeda strain. because of my late lunch supplemented with some choice junk food (chex mix, almonds), i decided to skip dinner, not feeling particularly hungry.

tomorrow: finish the rest of my to-do list (plants some seeds and clean the fish tanks).
