some more planting today, this time 8 cups of tomatoes, 2 seeds each. half of them with recycled dirt, the other half with fresh grow mix. a solicitor paid me a visit this afternoon; i was going to ignore her but she was persistent, ringing my bell nonstop (i was watching television, she probably heard me). she was canvassing for a JP women shelter. i wasn't going to give any money (i normally don't donate to solicitors, no matter how righteous the cause), which was further exacerbated by the fact that she was disturbing my weekend. and how could i really be sure this was a legit cause? there'd been a recent slew of fake door-to-door activists here in cambridge. she gave me a flyer anyway, and went ahead with her prepared speech, while i pretended to read the literature.

in the early evening i took a soak in the bath, catching up on the latest entertainment weekly. ellen degeneres is on this week's cover (dressed up like johnny carson), as well as it being the "ultimate tv trivia quiz" issue. so basically it was a slow news week and the EW staff decided to mail it in. later i heated up some frozen ribs from the freezer. apparently they required some thawing because 25 minutes later in the oven and they were still frozen. even though they were precooked, something must not have agreed with me as i spent some quality time in the bathroom afterwards.
