after fixing myself an onion bagel with spicy sausages for lunch, i was out the door this early afternoon, on my way to boston.

i was in boston for a developers' meeting, hosted by company F, on the top floor of the children museum. brian was my contact person and i bumped into brice on my way there. all three of us worked (and still works) at company S (now client S) back in the days. i've never been to company F before but it gave me that old screen house vibe, a bunch of young programmers and designers crowded together in a tight space. what they lack in leg room they more than make up for in the view, floor-to-ceiling window wall that looks out into the financial center of boston across the water. the meeting was about using some flash extensions, mainly tweening codes and 3D objects. freshly-baked cookies were available in the conference room table. since i don't do any actionscript development some of it was cryptic (although i could still follow it) but the few examples shown gave me a sense of what's possible and gave me further impetus to ramp up my flash IQ. afterwards i talked with some of the attendants, including a tufts engineering (my alma mater) phd student majoring in robotics.

i walked to chinatown, first getting some groceries at the china supermarket before stopping by the taiwan cafe to pick up an order of smelly tofu takeout. the owner - a temperamental woman who's normally very curt with me the few times i've eaten there - asked me to have a seat and even offered me some complimentary tea. i was suspicious of her hospitality, but maybe she recognized me as an old customer and wanted to make nice. i had flashbacks of wednesday morning when i walked back from market basket a mile away. although the bags of grocery were heavy, i didn't have as far to walk and it wasn't raining either. as of matter of fact, it was downright spring-like, with temperature in the 50's. i devoured the smelly tofu as soon as i got home, washed it all done with a bottle of chrysanthemum tea. it filled me much so well that i didn't need to eat dinner later.
