i finally went running today, after making a quick trip to target to pick up a few things. the weather was perfect, temperature in the 50's, with the low-on-the-horizon afternoon sun making it feel a lot warmer. stamina-wise i wasn't fatigued nor did i cramp up (which is usually the case) but stopped anyway by the time i got to the eliot bridge, more out of boredom than anything else, although i could feel my lungs starting to struggle a bit to keep up. i walked to the drinking fountain before finishing my circuit. i need new shoes, the ones i have now i've had for a few years and they're starting to show their age.

i returned home by 3pm, decided to have some belated lunch first before hitting the shower. i was surprised to hear somebody come into the house and see my roommate, back from work much earlier than usual. from that point on all my hopes of having some quiet time were dashed as he camped out in the living room with his laptop. feeling generous and not wanting to make a big deal out of it, i confined myself to my own bedroom, despite the fact that i normally spend my evenings in the living room. i had to help him with dinner again, he couldn't figure out why his sausages were still raw after steaming them for 20 minutes. i informed him the best way to cook sausages was 1) to slice them open and 2) to fry them. later in the evening he cooked up a pot of rice, which he leaves in the rice cooker until the next morning and brings it with him for his lunch tomorrow.

hopefully he'll have a normal work day tomorrow and leave me some afternoon personal time where i can briefly imagine that maybe i don't have a roommate.
