expecting some more sun today, but it was just as gloomy as yesterday, although with less rain. the sky alternated between overcasted grey and apocalyptical dark. with no activities planned (no work, no painting, not even watering the garden), i spent most of my day in the bedroom watching movies on my computer: dario argento's the bird with the crystal plumage followed by episodes of aliens in america. for lunch i had a hot bowl of leftover rice noodle soup. the whole day was pretty much a countdown to this evening however, as the red sox start their first ALCS game against the cleveland indians.

my parents and sister came over around 7pm: not to watch baseball but to eat. earlier i'd started the bread machine and a nice loaf of jalapeño bread was ready by the time they arrived, as well as some rice steaming in the cooker. my mother brought her basil chicken dish. i helped my father bring in a heavy (130lbs+) metal shelf he bought for me from costco, to be assembled for my basement. we watched the game and by the time everyone left, the red sox had a comfortable lead. game 2 is tomorrow night, and then sunday is the big football match between 2 unbeaten NFL teams, the patriots and the cowboys. it's going to be a sporty weekend.

a weird dream last night: i was in the capital city of burma but it was a ghost town because the military had taken away all the people. i think all this recent unrest in burma has affected me more than i realize.
