federal express held me hostage at home all day long and in the end they stood me up. a check on my canon repair status revealed that they actually shipped out the lens yesterday, and according to the package tracking data on the fedex website, that it'd arrive today. so starting from this morning i was on a state of high alert, every so often checking the door to see if anyone was there, making sure i wasn't listening to my music or watching tv too loud for fear of missing the delivery man when he rings my doorbell. normally they'd leave the package on the doorstep, but canon specifically stated that i'd have to sign for it, so i couldn't leave my house. fortunately it started raining, so any parade plans i may have had were put on hold anyway. i spent as much time as i could in the living room, to better hear/see any approaching fedex trucks. i played katamari damacy, trying to beat the medium campfire level (i've been trying for weeks, no luck). in the early evening i fell asleep on the couch. when i woke up it was already dark and there was still no package.

hopefully they'll deliver it early tomorrow so i can get back to my life.

thursday night is shaping up to be a big television night. unfortunately my new favorite show burn notice (USA network, 10pm) is on at the same time as my potential other new favorite show, mad men (AMC). it wasn't that hard to decide what to watch, spies beat out advertising execs hands down. afterwards i switched over to the encore broadcast premiere of mad men. what i love most about that show are the scenes of 1960's political incorrectness. if you were a white male basically the world was there to serve you, and things like racism, sexism, and anti-semitism were very overt (things like that still happen in our modern society, but it's refreshing to see it on such frank display within the context of that time). also last night i found two new episodes from season 2 of dexter (which won't go on the air until the fall) and watched them both. so awesome, i watched them again a second time today.
