more than 2 years ago, during a brief period when i had money (i think i even had a regular paying job at that time), i put away some cash in a fidelity money market account for a rainy day. now that the rain has finally arrived, i went down to the fidelity office in kendall square this morning to take out some cash. to have the money wired electronically into my bank checking account would've cost $15, so i went with the cheaper (free) option and told them to send me a check instead. the thing is i need that money by the time i send out my taxes next week otherwise my account will become negative (and i'll incur all sorts of nasty banking penalty fees).

i made my way home where i spent another full day working. i heard the jet fighters fly overhead in the afternoon during the start of the red sox opening day game down in fenway park. i saw matsuzaka mouth the words "samui" to ichiro, "cold." the hometown trounced the mariners to such an extent that it wasn't worth watching the final few innings as substitutions were made and all the bench players got an opportunity to play a little bit.

for dinner i made some raisin-orange bread and heated up a strip of barbecue ribs. it's been a while since i made bread; this time around, i think there wasn't enough rise and the loaf seemed slightly stunted, splitting apart on the surface. that was all cosmetic anyway, it still tasted fine inside. julie was trying to explain to me why she wanted a watch that could also read her heart rate.
