i moved the teenage male guppy into the larger guppy tank. i can't quite figure out his behaviour: sometimes he chases the larger female, but occasionally he also shadows an adult male. sometimes an adult male will chase him away, but other times he's the one chasing the adult. he also didn't seem to be very hungry, he ignored the flakes as well as the freeze dried brine shrimps, while his tank mates nearly started a feeding frenzy. i just need to get more females into the tank, otherwise that solitary female will be pestered to death. i also did a 25% water change and gravel vacuum of the minibow. i used some of the waste water for my still-alive jasmine plant (fish poo seems like it'd be a good fertilizer) and saved the rest as a biological starter for future tanks. speaking of which, i may pick up a 5 gallon minibow for sale on monday, making it my fourth aquarium.
at night i went out with my camera trying to spot the lunar eclipse. maybe the clouds got in the way but i couldn't see the red moon anywhere. after walking a large loop around my neighborhood (with my eyes firmly placed towards the eastern sky), i came back home.
when an tao came home i asked him if he saw the eclipse (he tried looking for it as well but couldn't see it either). he told me that when he was a little boy in hebei he saw a total solar eclipse once. we then talked about meteor showers, earthquakes, floods, overpopulation, epidemics, and other good stuff.
