tiger shrimps with lychees

today was probably the best day of the week, 65 degrees and a clear blue sky, but i'd spend most of it indoors. the only time i went out during the day was to the dollar store to pick up some paper towels. i wore my fortaleza t-shirt hoping that somebody from the brazilian supermarket might say something but i didn't get any comments. i then came back to the house and did some cleaning: vacuumed, dusted, sweeped, reorganized by bookcase, and even washed the aquarium.

around 5:30 kristine arrived, and an hour later her boyfriend brian showed up (having biked here from BU). we walked to tamarind house for some thai dinner. today was a day of meet and greet: i talked with dennis via e-mail, bumped into steve on the sidewalk, waved to jeff from inside the restaurant, and said good bye to eliza's friend alison on the way out - it was a weird confluence of seeing everybody i knew around the neighborhood all on the same day. kristine and brian ordered something vegetarian (actually, seafood, their meat exception) while i had the tiger shrimp with lychees. sitting by the window seat was actually distracting: since i've been cooped up at home these past few days, every single person walking by outside caught my attention.

after kristine and brian left, i had just enough time to catch the last 20 minutes of 30 rock, definitely one of my favorite new shows, one that i might go online and see if i can download more past episodes.
