57 degrees. that's what my thermostat was reading this morning when i finally decided i had enough of the cold and had to do something about it. any thoughts of firing up the furnace downstairs were dashed when i realized i didn't have my basement key (my former housemate accidently took it when he returned to shanghai back in september) and would have to get the spare set from my parents. i put on several layers of clothes. i opened a few windows since it felt warmer outside than inside. i put up the draft curtains in the foyers and used turkish pillows for door snakes. my father came by to deliver a large comforter and an old-fashion space heater, the kind with the hot glowing coils, the kind that's responsible for a good deal of house fires. he also helped me take down the air conditioner for the season. later we drove to market basket where i picked up some ingredients for tonight's clam chowder dinner.

it was actually a really good day to go biking but seeing that it'd be raining the rest of the week made me decide not to bring out the motorcycle until maybe this weekend, possibly squeezing out one final ride before it absolutely gets too cold to do anymore cycling. i made good on my promise of going outside though and walked down to harvard square to see if i could get some bank statements printed out from the bank. after a bit of a wait, i found out that i could've just printed out these statements online. i wandered harvard square a little more before returning home.

in the evening julie came over and i made the aforementioned clam chowder with some surprise corn thrown into the mix. after she left i took a shower and parked myself on the couch to watch a battlestar galactica repeat. it didn't take long before i fell asleep.
