just 3 things to do today: check my e-mail, get my bus ticket, and maybe wander around town a little bit and take a few more photos. at this point i've seen all that i can see here. i think if i stay another day i may very well go crazy with boredom. the free time gives me more opportunity to write in my offline travel journal though (i'm many pages behind). the locals here are starting to recognize me and say hi in the streets and the touts no longer bother me, asking if i want to go to yading national park. maybe they can tell from my weather-wizened face that i might have already been places. my trip to zhongdian will be tomorrow morning. after zhongdian i'm done with cold high-altitude mountain towns, back to summery hot normal-altitude locations.

the new hotel i'm staying in is sort of weird. this morning i decided to wander the halls a bit and realized they only have a handful of rooms. everything else is still under-construction, almost like a demolition site, stark empty rooms with exposed wires and floorboards, everything covered in sheet rock dust.
