and you thought you've seen the last of mushrooms? ya, as if! i figured they were done producing but late last week i noticed some buds and now it looks like i'm going to have a few more pieces to snack on.

monday. hard business today, watching the temperature rise, wanting to go out but knowing i have a lot of work this week. i had soup from a can for lunch and watched an episode of hustle (S02E05). as far as i know i'm the only person who watches this british import but it's absolutely fantastic and truly a hidden gem on cable. each episode features an intricate heist drawn up in a mission impossible style. since the show is british, everyone is so polite, there's hardly any violence, and disputes are settled through words rather than fists or bullets.

in the afternoon i went outside into the backyard to get some fresh air. i saw a carpenter bee on my deck; although the weather was warmish (50's), it wasn't quite warm enough for the bee, which looked lethargic and near-dead. so i tried to save it, putting it up on a hand rail so it could get some sun. i watched as in a few minutes it became alive again, fluttering its wings, preening its legs. alas, something must've happened to it earlier, because it never flew away, and eventually fell to the ground. i went back outside and picked it up again, but it had broken one of its legs, so prognosis didn't look so good. i felt like an entomologist ER doctor with a patient who wasn't going to make it.

when the work day drew to a close, i watched 2 more episodes of hustle (S01E04 S01E05). i heated up a toaster oven pizza for dinner then hunkered down to prison break and 24. prison break: the blueprint tattoo is ruined! 24: every good girl deserves torture and never help a terrorist, if that power plant worker just said no like the good patriot that should be and not help the terrorists decrease the pressure to 50% psi, then none of this would happen! oh, and the new girl? ms. "everyone is trying to sexually harass me"? teaming her up with sourpuss chloe is a stroke of writing genius! can't wait until next monday!
