i went down to the post office today to return that incompatible video card. it gave me a chance to visit the new bookstore in porter square. it's nice and all, but everything is retail, and i'm afraid it won't stop me from buying my books online still. i went to ace hardware to get a replacement bulb ($7) for my halogen lamp and went to the glitzy star market to pick up some ingredients for tonight's dinner. forgoing the bag, i walked home carrying my groceries in my arms. once i got back, it took me a long time to insert the new halogen bulb into the socket because i was afraid of breaking the two metal prongs. during my work day i also found time to do another load of laundry (mostly towels). i brought out the trash early because i hate bringing it out at nights when it's cold and i don't feel like leaving the house.

for dinner i made spaghetti carbonara with a side of edumame. i was watching everyday italian earlier (despite the fact that i was badmouthing giada yesterday), and she made a chicken tetrazini recipe - i was going to make that but it seemed too hearty and i was looking for something lighter. spaghetti carbonara seems like a glorified macaroni and cheese dish, with noodles instead of macaroni. the heat from the spaghetti cooks the egg-creme-cheese mixture, and the whole thing is tossed with bits of bacon. julie came over as usual, for the tuesday night primetime offering of scrubs followed by SVU. for dessert we had some italian ice.
