i walked down to market basket this morning to get some ingredients for tonight's dinner before i started working. i also had some time to call my health insurance for some more information about upgrading my plan to something with more benefits (they said they'd send me a brochure regarding my options). i broke the news to julie about todd gross being dumped from channel 7; i think people trust their weather forecaster more than anyone else, and i basically grew up with todd (not to mention dick albert). seeing him so unceremoniously fired from the station is like losing a family member. i feel especially close to todd because he's an amateur astronomer as well, and one winter i even sent him a blizzard photo that he put on the air (unfortunately i didn't see the broadcast, but somebody told me about it).

i make it no secret that i've been regularly checking the whereabouts of my camera delivery. according to the online tracking information, it seemed that maybe my package would be arriving sometime today which made me very anxious, running to the living room and looking out the window for the delivery truck everytime i thought i heard something. unfortunately that wasn't the case, and a final check on the website revealed that it only left the warehouse in connecticut sometime this evening; the good news is it's definitely arriving tomorrow though.

the only real nice thing that can be said about tonight's dinner was it was edible at least. i made some sort of stir-fry involving chicken, chinese sausages, and shrimps, tossed with egg noodles. of course it looked nothing like the photo in the recipe book. i ended up using too much egg noodles which seemed to suck the whole dish dry and it was a bland affair overall. i think it's my first time using shrimps though, they're fun to cook with because they turn pink when they're done. i think i've lost my cooking mojo (not that i had very much to begin with). i think 80% of the time, what i make is barely edible. but i still continue cooking anyway, i'll get it right someday.

julie could barely stay awake tonight, and slept through most of SVU. after she left, i brought out the trash and washed the dishes.
