i had dinner with my friend gary and his friends chee-ping and angela. we waited for angela to arrive at the porter exchange mall, and then once she got there, we waited some more for a table at the blue fin restaurant. for a monday night the place was doing a pretty good business (i even had another robert reich sighting). there was a hodge podge of language being thrown around. the lingua franca was mandarin chinese, with both gary and i hailing from taiwan, chee-ping from malaysia, and angela from hong kong (knowledgeable in cantonese, slowly learning mandarin). our wait staff spoken english and japanese, and occasionally gary and chee-ping would swear at each other in taiwanese. angela was given the responsibility of ordering for us (although i made sure we got some unagi (eel) - my favorite). the whole night she tried to convince me to go skiing with them this weekend. by the time we left, we had consumed $100 worth of sushi and sake.
when i got back home i ordered a 2gb compact flash memory card for my eventual new camera. a bigger camera means bigger images, and bigger images require a bigger memory card if i want to continue my reckless habit of taking photos of just about anything.
the rest of today was spent in idle; i could've been doing some work, but i figured if the majority of the work force was enjoying a day of rest, i should too. let tomorrow be the day that we all get our proletariat freak on.
