it's crazy, but the closer i am to the deadline, the more confident i am that i'm actually going to deliver on time. what used to be fear and stress about the impending delivery date has now been replaced by a clarity of purpose. i'm in my work groove now, and i wake up not with that feeling in my stomach like i don't know how i'm going to make it through the day, but instead i actually get out of bed excited about working. i am making so much progress everyday, even i am impressed with myself. just a few more days i think, a few more days to freedom. what will i do to occupy my newfound free time? i'm sure i'll think of something.

the weather today was rainy, cold, and wet. i took a break around lunch time to deliver some shrimps to the cafe and to get back the rusted lasagna tray so i could make some flan later tonight.

for the second time in two days, i was going with joel to another movie screening, this time the ice harvest down at fenway 13. sara was there to greet us and once again we gained entry into the theatre before anybody else. the film stars john cusack and billy bob thornton as two men stealing money from a mob boss. the story takes place christmas eve in kansas; the warm and happy midwestern corn fields are replaced by the wet and cold bleakness of the kansas underworld, the only natural landscapes to be found are inside seedy strip clubs. john cusack has that face that looks like he'd just been crying - at least in this film he isn't bloated like must love dogs. the movie is a crime drama where you never know who's going to stab you in the back, but there's only a few plot twists, and no surprises are too shocking. from the trailer the film seemed to be a comedy, and there's definitely humorous moments (dark comedy), but the story is serious. connie nielsen plays an eye-catching femme fatale, although for personal reasons i found the name of her character somewhat distracting. in the end, ice harvest entertains but it doesn't linger in your mind like some better grift tales.

joel gave me a ride back home. i heated up some canned clam chowder for dinner and made some thanksgiving flan.
